Eco-Friendly Candles

ecoTIP

Only buy candles scented with natural plant-derived real essential oils – not ones with synthetic fragrance and additives.

Love candles? Who doesn’t. But if you’re using ‘conventional’ candles, you’re polluting the air by burning paraffin, a petroleum by-product that gives off the same soot as diesel fuel. Not so romantic.

Paraffin fumes include methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and naphthalene – substances found in paint, lacquer and varnish removers. Two other paraffin fumes, toluene and benzene, have been identified by the EPA as probable human carcinogens. Many paraffin candles even have wicks containing lead and metal!

Ignite a healthy, pollution-free flicker – buy healthier, greener alternatives like beeswax, soy, and other all-natural candles.
